Kathmandu: The UAE's sixth humanitarian aid aircraft has arrived in Nepal, carrying 25 tonnes of food parcels and clothing to support those affected by recent floods and landslides. This latest shipment brings the total assistance provided by the UAE via its air bridge to an impressive 245 tonnes.
According to Emirates News Agency, the aircraft was received by UAE Ambassador Abdulla Saeed Al Shamsi. This delivery is part of the UAE's continued humanitarian efforts to provide essential supplies to families impacted by the disaster and to assist Nepal in dealing with the aftermath. Alongside the arrival of this aircraft, the UAE Search and Rescue Team is scheduled to depart Nepal after completing their mission, which included crucial search operations and technical surveys in affected areas. The team, working with Nepalese authorities, successfully located 18 missing individuals.
Ambassador Al Shamsi was also present to bid farewell to the search and rescue and relief teams. Hammoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations, emphasized the UAE's commitment to supporting the Nepalese people. He highlighted that the humanitarian aid team would remain in Nepal to continue delivering assistance and implement an early recovery program, working closely with Nepalese authorities.
Al Afari outlined that the next phase of the UAE's efforts would focus on early recovery initiatives. These include constructing bridges, providing homes for displaced families, and restoring essential services and livelihoods. Such measures aim to aid the restoration of normalcy in the affected areas, in coordination with local authorities and tailored to the needs on the ground. The UAE's operations underscore its longstanding approach of supporting communities throughout both emergency response and recovery phases.
