Abu dhabi: The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) has announced an extension of its Summer Season 2026 programme into August, continuing a series of educational and interactive events for children and families that began in July. The initiative is aimed at promoting learning, discovery, and creativity during the school holidays.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Sharjah Aquarium is hosting its annual Junior Aquarist Programme from 3rd to 6th August. This programme is targeted at children aged nine to 13, offering them a hands-on experience of a marine biologist's work. Participants will engage in feeding routines for the aquarium's sea creatures and learn about life-support systems and water quality management. The programme also includes behind-the-scenes tours and interactive workshops.
Simultaneously, Al Qasimiya School - Museum of Education is running the Young Calligrapher Programme from 3rd to 6th August. This initiative introduces children to the beauty of Arabic calligraphy and Kufic script through practical workshops aimed at enhancing their creative and artistic skills.
Throughout August, the Sharjah Science Museum is hosting the "Summer is Sweeter with the Family" programme. This event combines scientific and artistic workshops with interactive games and educational shows designed to engage all family members.
Additionally, the SMA is organizing the "Mould Story" workshop at the Resistance Monument on 22nd August. Participants will explore the history of plate-making across various periods before crafting their own plates using Jesmonite, with opportunities for creative personalization.
Beyond these seasonal offerings, SMA's museums continue their regular interactive activities through August. The Little Archaeologist Hall at the Sharjah Archaeology Museum invites children aged five to 12 to delve into the emirate's ancient history with hands-on activities that merge learning with exploration.
Meanwhile, the Sharjah Aquarium offers live visitor experiences, including shark feeding sessions and main tank feedings, alongside a hands-on touch pool. The Sharjah Science Museum complements this with scientific demonstrations and over 50 practical exhibits covering physics, biology, and astronomy.
