Dubai: Solico Group, a food manufacturing company in the Middle East, has inaugurated SoFood, a new AED130 million ($35.4 million) production facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza). This facility is set to serve as the company's manufacturing hub for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
According to Emirates News Agency, the new 5,000 m² site has an initial production capacity of 40 tonnes per day. This development is expected to enhance the resilience of the UAE's food manufacturing sector. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, remarked on Jafza's ability to attract manufacturers aiming to cater to regional demands and export globally. He highlighted Solico's decision to invest heavily in the UAE as a testament to Dubai's strong industrial ecosystem, which is anticipated to boost food security, generate quality employment, and support the UAE's goal of expanding its competitive manufacturing sector.
Gholamali Soleimani, Founder and Group Chairman of Solico Group, stated that the UAE offers a highly dynamic ecosystem for food manufacturing and economic diversification. He emphasized that the investment would enhance Solico's regional presence, facilitate the transfer of expertise to the UAE, and bolster manufacturing capabilities to ensure food security in the region for the foreseeable future.
