SPARK and Boehringer Ingelheim Forge Strategic Partnership to Enhance Healthcare Innovation

Sharjah: The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK) has announced a strategic partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim, a leading global biopharmaceutical company. This collaboration aims to strengthen healthcare research and innovation efforts across Sharjah and the broader UAE through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK, and Ghaleb Al Ahdab, Head of Public and Government Affairs for Near East and UAE at Boehringer Ingelheim. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, President of SPARK, and Mr. Ousama Alhaj, General Manager and Head of Human Pharma for Near East and UAE at Boehringer Ingelheim.

The partnership focuses on providing researchers, startups, and academic institutions within Sharjah's University City access to Boehringer Ingelheim's OpnME digital platform. This global open-innovation ecosystem connects scientists and institutions to advanced research and development opportunities.

Through this initiative, researchers in Sharjah will have exclusive access to scientific tools, datasets, and collaboration opportunities with Boehringer Ingelheim's international research teams. The platform will facilitate co-development in vital therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular health, oncology, metabolic disorders, and neuroscience, creating a collaborative environment for moving ideas from discovery to real-world applications.

The MoU was signed during the Sharjah Next: Healthcare Forum, the emirate's leading platform for healthcare innovation and research. This agreement highlights Sharjah's emerging role as a center for life sciences and biotechnology, linking academia and industry to expedite scientific discovery and commercialization.
