Abu dhabi: Strata Manufacturing PJSC (Strata), a company wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company, has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Airbus to manufacture Ailerons for the Airbus A320 models. This agreement marks a significant development in Strata's strategic partnerships within the aerospace sector.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoA was signed by Sara Abdulla Al Memari, Acting CEO of Strata Manufacturing, and Nicola Coombs, VP - Ho Aerostructures Wing Procurement from Airbus. The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures including Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri, CEO of Mubadala's UAE Investments Platform, Ismail Ali Abdulla, Executive Director of the UAE Clusters unit and Managing Director of Strata, and Wouter Van Wersch, EVP International and Executive Vice President Airbus Africa and Middle East.
Strata will fulfill 50% of Airbus's demand for A320 family Ailerons, supporting the production of the A320 Family, which has a backlog exceeding 7,000 aircraft. The manufacturing will take place at Strata's Al Ain facility, with an Emiratization rate of 50%, involving engineers and production technicians.
Ismail Ali Abdulla commented on the long-standing partnership with Airbus, highlighting the significance of including Ailerons in their portfolio and the step forward in scale and capability. He emphasized the dedication of their team and the pride in contributing to the global aerospace industry.
Wouter Van Wersch expressed confidence in Strata's capabilities, citing their partnership's history of trust and excellence. He emphasized that the agreement for A320 Ailerons is crucial for Airbus's production plans and strengthens the UAE's role in Airbus's global operations.
The collaboration between Strata and Airbus began in 2008, with the first A330 inboard flaps delivered in 2010. The relationship has grown over the years, with expectations of further expansion through additional work packages, such as the A400M, depending on the UAE's selection of the aircraft.
