Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), attended the graduation ceremony for the spring semester 2026 at the University City Hall, where postgraduate students of the University of Sharjah graduated.
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed, in his speech at the ceremony, stressed the importance of pursuing knowledge with determination, akin to the way merchants of the Arabian Gulf navigated the seas guided by stars. He urged the graduates to use their education to impact society positively, stating that their degrees are tools for shaping decisions and informing policy. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed highlighted the university's role in preparing students for leadership through specialised programmes and praised the graduates' accomplishments.
He noted that the University of Sharjah's achievements are reflected in its students' success and its high enrolment figures, with 21,183 students, including 5,800 new ones. The university boasts 158 academic programmes and a community comprising people from 111 nationalities.
Addressing the graduates' families, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed acknowledged their sacrifices and support, emphasizing their foundational role in the graduates' success. He also thanked the university's faculty and administration for their dedication to student development. Concluding his speech, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to commit to making a difference in society.
The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and a Quranic recitation, followed by a speech from Professor Dr. Issam Al-Din Ibrahim Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah. Ajami expressed gratitude to Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed for his presence and highlighted the importance of knowledge in societal progress. He praised the university's achievements and encouraged graduates to continue their pursuit of knowledge.
Representing the graduates, Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi expressed gratitude to the university's leadership and faculty for their support. He urged his fellow graduates to remain dedicated to lifelong learning and research.
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed presented the graduation certificates to 426 postgraduate students from various colleges, congratulating them on their achievements. The event was attended by notable figures, including Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Halima Al Owais, and other officials and parents.
