Doha: The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood engaged in discussions with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Gulf Area Office to bolster strategic partnerships and enhance collaboration efforts aimed at protecting children, empowering mothers and children, and advancing sustainable social development across the UAE.
According to Emirates News Agency, this dialogue took place between Al Reem Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Lana Al Wreikat, UNICEF's Director for the Gulf Area, during the Second World Summit for Social Development 2025 recently held in Doha. Both organizations highlighted that their partnership serves as a global model for collaboration between national entities and international organizations. This partnership is built on a shared vision prioritizing the welfare of children and mothers as central to national development, aligning with the UAE Vision 2031 and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
The discussions underscored the significance of investing in innovation, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence for children. Emphasis was placed on utilizing advanced technologies to improve education quality, protection, and community participation, ensuring equitable and safe access to digital opportunities for every child.
Additionally, both parties recognized the necessity of integrating climate and environmental issues into child-focused programs, acknowledging the climate crisis as a fundamental child rights issue. They agreed on empowering children and youth to engage in environmental solutions as an investment in a sustainable future for upcoming generations.
Concluding the meeting, both sides committed to ongoing coordination and exploring new partnership opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence for development, climate and childhood, social policy, and future skills development for youth.
