Raipur: Thirteen people, including nine women and four children, lost their lives in a tragic road accident in India's Raipur district. The incident occurred when a truck carrying passengers collided with a trailer, as confirmed by Raipur Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kiran Rathore. This accident is considered one of the worst road mishaps in the region, leaving twelve others injured.
According to Emirates News Agency, India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, expressed his deep grief over the tragic loss of lives. In response to the accident, he sanctioned relief payments of 200,000 Indian rupees (approximately US$2,350) to the next of kin of those who were killed. Additionally, 50,000 rupees (approximately US$590) were allocated to those injured in the accident.
Modi conveyed his condolences through a post on his verified official handle of X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, 'Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a road accident in Raipur. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon.'
