Ottawa: A delegation from TRENDS Research and Advisory organized a series of activities and meetings in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, during the second day of its research tour. The delegation's itinerary included significant engagements at the Canadian Parliament and with key figures in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to Emirates News Agency, the delegation began its program with meetings at the Canadian Parliament. They conducted an extensive session with Vince Gasparro, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of State and Federal MP for the Ruling Liberal Party, and Leslie Church, Liberal MP and Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministers of Labour; Seniors; Families, Children and Social Development; and Employment. The discussions highlighted the role of think tanks in providing strategic insights and analysis to support parliamentary work.
In addition, the delegation met with MP Ziad Aboultaif, a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development. Their dialogue centered on current geopolitical issues and the significance of track-two diplomacy in promoting international understanding.
TRENDS also held a strategic dialogue session with officials from the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute (Mila), a leading AI research center. The conversations explored potential collaborations between Mila and the TRENDS Training Institute to develop AI-powered training programs aimed at empowering young researchers.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, emphasized that the research tour in Canada is a crucial milestone in the center's global strategy. He noted that TRENDS' activities in Canada, along with the establishment of its virtual office, underscore the center's commitment to facilitating international dialogue and leveraging Canada's expertise in various fields.
