Dushanbe: TRENDS Research and Advisory participated in a high-level international conference on glacier conservation held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The conference was inaugurated by Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

According to Emirates News Agency, a delegation from TRENDS represented the Centre at the conference, led by senior researcher Abdulaziz Al Shehhi, who is the deputy head of the research sector. Al Shehhi delivered a speech on behalf of TRENDS CEO Dr. Mohammed Al Ali, emphasizing that melting glaciers are a significant consequence of climate change.

He stressed the urgent need to strengthen international cooperation and renew commitments to implementing global agreements, such as the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement and the UAE declaration issued at COP28. Dr. Mohammed Al Ali pointed out that transitioning to renewable energy is a strategic response to global warming, with goals to enhance energy efficiency and scale up renewable energy production by 2030, as outlined in COP28 targets.

The UAE is actively adopting renewable energy projects and plans to source 44% of its energy from renewables by 2050. This initiative includes investments of up to $163 billion in solar technologies and sustainable development efforts.
