TRENDS to Host Annual Conference on Sustainable Water Security in Abu Dhabi

Abu dhabi: TRENDS Research and Advisory has announced the fifth annual conference titled 'Sustainable Water Security: Shaping a Water-Secure Future Through Innovation and Knowledge', scheduled from 2nd to 3rd September at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Canal, Abu Dhabi. The event will feature 33 officials, researchers, and international experts from various countries, alongside representatives from regional and international organizations, youth participation, and an accompanying exhibition.

According to Emirates News Agency, the conference aims to address the growing challenges related to water security and explore innovative solutions and policies to ensure the sustainability of water resources amid global climate change and economic and social pressures. Chaired by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, the organizing committee recently held a meeting to finalize logistical, technical, and scientific arrangements, confirming the readiness of all working teams.

The meeting also reviewed organizational plans, media coverage, and session programs, reinforcing the conference's role as a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange. Dr. Al-Ali emphasized that the conference aligns with the UAE's preparations to host the 2026 United Nations Water Conference and serves as a knowledge platform supporting international efforts for sustainable water security, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference will commence with the launch of the Arabic edition of Sir Liam Fox's book, The Coming Storm: Why Water Will Write the 21st Century, and the announcement of the TRENDS Water Security Research Competition and the TRENDS Water Security Youth Council. The first day will cover sessions on water security futures, transboundary water geopolitics, and multilateralism in the global water dialogue.

On the second day, sessions will include topics on finance and investment in water systems, technology-driven approaches to sustainability, and global case studies on water risk mitigation. Youth activities and an exhibition showcasing research in water security will also be featured.

The conference is supported by strategic sponsorship from the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Centre, and diamond sponsorship from SEHA and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority. Media support comes from The National, with additional sponsorship from the Emirates News Agency, Al Ittihad News, and the UAE Journalists Association. Viory Media Platform, Aneco Middle East, and Sabha Advertising and Exhibitions provide digital coverage.

An interactive exhibition will run alongside the conference, featuring ten government and private entities presenting projects and technologies related to water security.
