Ankara: The share of wind and solar energy in Trkiye's total installed electricity capacity reached approximately 30% by the end of March, according to Trkiye's Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS).
According to Emirates News Agency, Trkiye's total electricity installed capacity reached 117,876 megawatts (MW) by the end of March. The increase is attributed to the nation's rising energy demand due to its growing population, efforts to minimize the current account deficit caused by fossil fuel imports, and the drive to boost its industrial sector, which has accelerated investments in wind and solar energy.
Abu Dhabi: Trkiye's solar energy installed capacity saw significant growth, reaching 21,620 MW by the end of March 2025, marking a 129% increase from 16,700 MW at the end of March 2024. Concurrently, wind energy installed capacity rose by 108%, from 12,082 MW at the same period last year to 13,098 MW by the end of March this year.
As a result, the total share of wind and solar energy in the country's installed capacity, which was 25.7% at the end of March last year, has now reached 30% by the end of March 2025.
