Abu dhabi: United Arab Bank P.J.S.C. (UAB) reported its financial results for the six months ending 30th June 2026, earning a net profit of AED201 million.

According to Emirates News Agency, the results are underpinned by a 13% year-on-year growth in total operating income. This growth reflects the Bank's disciplined execution of its strategy, strong asset growth, and prudent risk management amid global market volatility and regional geopolitical uncertainty.

Total assets stood at AED28 billion, marking a 16% increase year-on-year. This growth was supported by strong gains in loans, advances, and Islamic financing, which rose by 14% to AED15.3 billion. Investments saw a 25% increase to AED8.3 billion, while customer deposits climbed 16% year-on-year to AED18.2 billion.

Asset quality metrics remained robust, with a non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of 2.7% and provision coverage of 101%. Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, highlighted the importance of the first half of 2026 as a milestone in UAB's evolution. The bank accelerated its strategic program, strengthened its capital position, enhanced governance, and advanced digital transformation.

He emphasized that the results demonstrate the effectiveness of these strategic investments, showcasing strong operating performance and sustainable business momentum amid a volatile environment. The UAE's competitive economic position, with a focus on diversification and innovation, was also noted as a key factor in creating opportunities for businesses and investors.

Shirish Bhide, Chief Executive Officer of UAB, remarked on the tangible business momentum resulting from investments made across the bank. Growth in operating income, expansion across lending, deposits, and the investment portfolio, alongside healthy asset quality and capital levels, reflect the effectiveness of UAB's execution.

Looking forward, Bhide emphasized the bank's commitment to enhancing digital capabilities, broadening product offerings, and supporting businesses and families across the UAE. The focus remains on translating innovation into better client experiences and enduring shareholder value.
