Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has recorded remarkable results delivered through its Social Protection System for workers during the first half of 2026, strengthening the protection of workers' financial entitlements and enhancing their awareness.
According to Emirates News Agency, the positive results reflect the Ministry's commitment to enhancing a safe, stable, and sustainable work environment that promotes workers' quality of life and wellbeing while protecting their rights. Dalal Alshehhi, Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Protection at the Ministry, emphasized the significance of these achievements as part of the national priorities and the 'We the UAE 2031' vision.
Alshehhi highlighted the Ministry's comprehensive strategy in the labour market, which focuses on building sustainable partnerships with federal and local government entities, as well as the private sector. This strategy supports the implementation of legislation and enhances compliance, aiming to make the UAE a role model in protecting workers' rights.
MoHRE announced that approximately 800,000 workers participated in celebrations organized at more than 60 locations nationwide during the first half of 2026. These events were in collaboration with partners in the federal and local governments and the private sector, aiming to enhance workers' social inclusion and wellbeing.
The Ministry's figures revealed that over 44,000 workers benefited from the Workers Protection Programme, with each receiving an average amount of AED7,000. By the end of the first half of the year, the programme had disbursed over AED320 million. Additionally, the Unemployment Insurance Scheme reported more than AED512 million in compensation to workers who lost their jobs since its launch in 2024.
Awareness programmes, available in 17 languages, saw 100 percent completion of mandatory guidance courses by targeted workers. Over 1.3 million workers benefited from specialized awareness programmes. The Ministry's digital and field inspection system facilitated the implementation of the Occupational Heat Stress Prevention Policy from June 15 to September 15, with plans for more than 12,000 rest stations for delivery riders during this period.
In terms of labour accommodation, the registered facilities in the Labour Accommodation System exceeded 2,800 by mid-2026, ensuring high standards of comfort, health, and safety for around 2 million workers.
