Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India convened for the sixth session of their joint Consular Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The session focused on strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE delegation was led by Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Indian delegation was headed by Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary of Consular, Passport, Visa, and Overseas Indian Affairs. Alshamsi extended a warm welcome to the Indian delegation, conveying the greetings and best wishes of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, for a successful meeting.
The discussions centered on enhancing consular cooperation and exchanging expertise and best practices, aiming to expand avenues of joint collaboration and improve consular services for citizens of both nations. This session reflects the commitment of both countries' leadership to strengthen bilateral relations and highlights the deep historical, cultural, and strategic ties between the UAE and India.
During the meeting, the Indian delegation had the opportunity to tour the UAE's Smart Mission model, a first-of-its-kind globally. This innovative model employs advanced technologies and artificial intelligence solutions to offer pioneering consular services, underscoring the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' dedication to using technology to streamline procedures and enhance customer experiences at UAE missions worldwide.
