UAE and Kazakhstan Strengthen Ties in Aircraft Accident Investigation

Dubai: The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates and the Directorate of Investigation of Transport Incidents at the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance bilateral cooperation in aircraft accident and incident investigations. This strategic partnership aims to boost collaboration efforts between the two nations in this critical area.

According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was signed by Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, representing the UAE, and Talgat Lastaev, Vice-Minister of Transport, on behalf of Kazakhstan. The signing ceremony took place at the GCAA platform during the Dubai Airshow 2025, with key officials from both countries in attendance, including Captain Aysha Mohammed Al Hamili, Assistant Director-General for the Air Transport Accident Investigation Sector at the GCAA.

The cooperation framework outlined in the MoU includes mutual assistance and facilities, personnel exchange for training and professional development, participation of observers in investigations, organization of technical visits and meetings, and the sharing of pertinent information. These initiatives are designed to align with national laws and regulations of both countries, fostering a more integrated approach to transport safety and investigation practices.
