UAE and Lebanon Strengthen Ties During President Aoun’s Visit

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Lebanon have issued a joint statement during the official visit of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to the UAE. The statement highlights the commitment of both nations to enhance their bilateral relations, with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan receiving President Aoun at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi for talks aimed at boosting cooperation across various sectors.

According to Emirates News Agency, President Sheikh Mohamed warmly welcomed President Aoun and expressed optimism that the visit would fortify the fraternal relations between the two countries and further their mutual interests in progress and prosperity. Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the UAE's dedication to collaborating with Lebanon to promote development, prosperity, security, and regional stability, reiterating support for Lebanon's security, stability, and sovereignty.

President Aoun conveyed gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for his supportive sentiments towards Lebanon, affirming his commitment to nurturing the bilateral relationship and acknowledging the UAE's supportive role at all levels. Discussions between the two leaders focused on enhancing bilateral relations in multiple fields, including economic and investment sectors, through joint opportunities and knowledge exchange.

The statement also announced initiatives such as the visit of the UAE's Government Experience Exchange Office to Beirut to share best practices, and measures to facilitate travel between the two countries. Additionally, both sides agreed to elevate diplomatic representation and establish a joint UAE-Lebanon Business Council. The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development will send a delegation to Lebanon to explore joint cooperation projects.

The leaders also engaged in discussions on regional developments and their implications for Arab relations and regional security. President Aoun updated Sheikh Mohamed on Lebanon's current situation and international affairs, with Sheikh Mohamed reaffirming Lebanon's strategic importance within the Arab world as a crucial pillar of joint Arab action.
