UAE and Serbia Conduct First Round of Political Consultations

Belgrade:The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Serbia have held their first round of political consultations in Belgrade, co-chaired by Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State of the UAE, and Marko Ðuric, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia.

According to Emirates News Agency, the consultations highlighted the deepening bilateral partnership between the UAE and Serbia, rooted in long-standing ties and enhanced by high-level exchanges. These include recent visits by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and Aleksandar Vucic, then President of Serbia. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in technology, trade and investment, energy, defense, and cultural cooperation, among other areas of mutual interest.

Both sides reviewed the positive impact of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, noting that the meeting marked the two-year anniversary of its signing. Discussions also covered political and security developments in Europe and the Middle East, emphasizing dialogue and diplomacy to advance peace, stability, and sustainable development. The parties agreed on the importance of supporting efforts to promote de-escalation, resolve conflicts peacefully, and enhance regional stability, while strengthening partnerships and coordination within the United Nations and other multilateral fora.

Preparations for Expo 2027 Belgrade, which will see participation from the UAE, were also discussed. Lana Nusseibeh was accompanied by Ahmad Almenhali, UAE Ambassador to Serbia, and Hind Alshraim, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
