UAE and Syria Discuss Enhanced Religious Cooperation at Damascus Forum

Damascus: Dr Omar Habtoor Al Derei, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, met with Syrian Minister of Endowments Dr Mohammad Abu Al Khair Shukri on the sidelines of the Syrian-UAE Investment Forum currently being held in Damascus. The meeting focused on discussing aspects of cooperation and enhanced coordination in religious and endowment affairs, with the goal of exchanging expertise to support the development of institutional work and the delivery of religious and awareness services.

According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions were rooted in the deep relations between the two countries. The meeting emphasized the importance of reinforcing values and principles of the Islamic faith, such as peace, tolerance, and coexistence. Both sides highlighted the need for a moderate religious discourse that contributes to building a cohesive society where all individuals can enjoy a safe and stable life, appreciating and respecting diverse cultures and customs.

Dr Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities in Abu Dhabi, attended the meeting along with several officials from both countries. The discussions underscored the shared objectives of promoting a spirit of brotherhood and humanity in line with the true teachings of Islam.
