Munich: The UAE Embassy in Berlin, ADNOC, XRG, Masdar, and the Germany-UAE Business Council celebrated the UAE-European energy and industrial partnership at a reception on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. Hosted by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Germany, and Ahmed Alattar, UAE Ambassador to Germany, the event was attended by over 300 business leaders, lawmakers, government officials, and other key stakeholders from across Europe.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Al Jaber emphasized the importance of reliable long-term energy partnerships, stating that energy security is equivalent to national security in the modern world. He affirmed the UAE's commitment to being a dependable partner for Germany and Europe, with a focus on supporting their energy security and economic stability. Ahmed Alattar and Markus S¶der, Minister President of Bavaria, also addressed the guests, highlighting the UAE's role as a reliable partner and long-term investor in Europe.
Through companies like ADNOC, XRG, and Masdar, the UAE is enhancing Europe's energy resilience by diversifying supply and investing heavily in industrial cooperation. Collectively, these companies have pledged more than £38 billion in energy and industrial investments across Europe. Germany is central to this partnership, with the UAE and Germany fostering a collaborative economic relationship aimed at driving innovation and supporting sustainable growth. The UAE's current energy and industrial investments in Germany exceed £18 billion, with plans to increase this to approximately £30 billion over the next decade.
The event was attended by notable figures such as Christian Stocker, Federal Chancellor of Austria; H.R.H. Alois Philipp Maria von und zu Liechtenstein; Katherina Reiche, Germany's Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy; and other key European ministers and officials. Prominent UAE attendees included Dr. Anwar Gargash, Lana Nusseibeh, and other high-ranking officials and business leaders.
The reception followed a recent visit to the UAE by Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of Germany, during which agreements were signed between Masdar, ADNOC, and RWE to enhance Germany's energy resilience further.
