UAE Contributes $1.5 Million to Support UN Human Rights Initiatives

Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has made a voluntary contribution of US$1.5 million to bolster the activities and programmes of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). The funding highlights the UAE's ongoing involvement with the United Nations human rights system and its commitment to supporting OHCHR's mission of promoting and protecting human rights globally.

According to Emirates News Agency, the financial contribution will be allocated to support OHCHR's various programmes and activities, aligning with its mandate. This includes humanitarian efforts and initiatives aimed at advancing the rights of children, the elderly, women, and People of Determination. Additionally, the funding will aid OHCHR in strengthening international human rights mechanisms and providing assistance and cooperation to Member States.

The UAE's decision to contribute to OHCHR demonstrates its dedication to fostering constructive cooperation with the United Nations. It also reflects the country's support for international endeavors focused on enhancing human rights and reinforcing global collaboration in this domain.
