UAE Engages in AI-Driven Education Dialogue at World Digital Education Conference 2026

Hangzhou: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) took part in the World Digital Education Conference 2026 held in Hangzhou, China. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, led the UAE delegation at the event themed 'AI + Education: Transformation, Development, Governance'.

According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE delegation explored China's use of artificial intelligence to advance higher education, improve learning outcomes, and supply economic sectors with skilled talent. The delegation comprised representatives from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and representatives from five higher education institutions, including United Arab Emirates University and Higher Colleges of Technology.

Key sessions during the conference addressed global trends in digital education and the integration of AI in the higher education sector. The discussions centered on international best practices for utilizing smart technologies to enhance education quality and foster scientific research.

On the sidelines, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar and his delegation engaged with leaders from Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The discussions aimed to explore opportunities for strengthening academic cooperation between UAE and Chinese universities, focusing on academic exchange programs, knowledge sharing, and the development of future-ready education systems.

Further discussions included collaboration in fields such as AI, medicine, engineering, energy, and advanced technologies, aligning with the strategic priorities of both countries. This participation is part of the UAE's broader efforts to expand its global presence in higher education and scientific research, foster international academic partnerships, and support its digital transformation ambitions.
