UAE Extends Nafis Programme Until 2040 Under Presidential Directives

Abu dhabi: In implementation of directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced the extension of the Nafis programme until 2040. This announcement was made during a meeting of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (ETCC) Board of Directors at Qasr Al Watan, reflecting the leadership's commitment to enhancing Emiratization programmes and creating stable work environments for Emiratis.

According to Emirates News Agency, the ETCC approved updates to the Nafis programme in line with the Year of Family 2026. Key updates include expanding the Children's Allowance for Emirati beneficiaries by removing the cap on eligible children. New salary support programmes for children of Emirati mothers and wives of Emirati citizens working in the private sector were also introduced, highlighting a commitment to family stability and inclusive workforce participation.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mansour presided over the graduation ceremony of the second cohort of the Nafis Leadership Programme, held in collaboration with the UAE Government Leaders Programme. The programme equipped 25 graduates with skills and knowledge through interactive workshops, preparing them for contemporary workplace challenges.

Sheikh Mansour emphasized the strategic importance of the Nafis programme in advancing Emiratization and fostering collaboration between public and private sectors. He affirmed the leadership's belief in developing national talent, promoting innovation, and maintaining the UAE's competitive edge globally.

Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the ETCC, stated that since its launch in September 2021, Nafis has exceeded its targets, employing over 176,000 Emiratis across 32,000 establishments as of March. The programme, with a five-year budget of AED 24 billion, was initially aimed at employing 170,000 Emiratis in the private sector, but has surpassed expectations.

The programme's impact is notable in women's empowerment, with women comprising 74% of beneficiaries and over 38,000 children supported through the Child Allowance Scheme. Training initiatives like the National Healthcare Programme have benefited thousands, aligning Emirati talent with future labor market demands.

The extension of the Nafis programme until 2040 reaffirms its position as a vital tool for Emirati talent empowerment, supporting the nation's broader economic and social development goals.
