Dubai: B¸rge Brende, President and Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum (WEF), stated that the Annual Meetings of the Global Future Councils and Cybersecurity 2025 in Dubai, which gather over 800 experts worldwide, highlight the UAE's prominent role as a central hub for future foresight and for crafting solutions to international challenges.

According to Emirates News Agency, Brende mentioned that the meetings, held in Dubai for more than 16 years, have been instrumental in guiding significant decisions at both regional and global levels. These gatherings bring together experts and decision-makers to explore the potential of emerging technologies to benefit humanity and to enhance international cooperation in tackling future challenges such as pandemics and cybersecurity threats.

He pointed out that the world is currently experiencing one of the most intricate geopolitical periods in recent decades. However, there are optimistic developments, especially in the Gulf region, where nations like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar are experiencing swift economic growth and notable structural reforms, setting a standard for progress in the area.

Brende stressed that cybersecurity is a focal topic in this year's discussions, particularly considering the global losses surpassing US$5 trillion annually due to cybercrime. He urged stronger collaboration among governments to combat this escalating threat and to create joint mechanisms to protect the global economy.

He concluded that this international intellectual assembly in Dubai continues to bolster the UAE's status as a global center for constructive dialogue and knowledge exchange, paving the way for a safer and more sustainable future for humanity.
