Khan younis: The UAE has inaugurated the Emirates Medical Centre in Khan Younis, located in the southern region of the Gaza Strip, as part of its Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 initiative. This move is aimed at enhancing the health sector, supporting the healthcare system, and delivering urgent medical services to improve the standard of medical care across the territory. According to Emirates News Agency, the newly established centre comprises several specialised departments and offers comprehensive medical services to patients and the injured, including primary healthcare and the management of emergency cases. Ali Al Shihi, Head of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, confirmed that the opening of the medical centre aligns with the UAE's continuous efforts to support the health sector and alleviate the suffering of the population in Gaza, reaffirming the country's commitment to meeting the Strip's humanitarian needs. Dr Mohamed Rubayyi', Deputy Head of the Support Committee for Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, hig hlighted the UAE's dedication to supporting the health sector and its provision of various forms of assistance to the people of Gaza, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Dr Sameh Hamid, Director of the UAE Medical Centre, stated that the centre is well-equipped to handle emergency cases and provide primary healthcare, featuring specialised departments and a pharmacy to offer appropriate treatment. Hiba Al Najjar, WHO Health Coordinator in the Gaza Strip, commended the UAE's efforts and its ongoing contribution to supporting the health system since the onset of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. She noted the UAE's establishment of the UAE Field Hospital at the start of the crisis and its consistent support to Palestinian hospitals in the Strip, which has strengthened the healthcare system's capacity to address challenges and deliver patient care. The opening of the Emirates Medical Centre is part of the UAE's ongoing medical support, which includes the deployment of medica l convoys, provision of ambulances, medicines, and medical supplies by Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, with the goal of improving healthcare services available to the Gaza Strip's population. This initiative builds on the work of the UAE Field Hospital, which continues to support the health sector and ease the burden on medical facilities, contributing to improved healthcare for patients and the injured.
