UAE Refutes Accusations at Human Rights Council by Sudan Conflict Party

Geneva: The United Arab Emirates has firmly rejected what it describes as false and baseless accusations made by a party involved in the Sudan conflict. The UAE exercised its right of reply during the 61st session of the Human Rights Council, which is currently being held in Geneva.

According to Emirates News Agency, Shahad Matar, Deputy Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva, delivered a statement addressing the allegations. Matar criticized the accusing party, stating that their hands are "stained with the blood of their own people" and accused them of attempting to mislead the council regarding the rule of law.

Matar further accused the Sudanese party of committing human rights violations and violating international humanitarian law. These violations reportedly include obstructing humanitarian access, attacking civilian infrastructure, and carrying out summary executions, as well as sexual and gender-based violence.

The UAE representative also highlighted the lack of impartial investigations or accountability from the accusing party, along with their alleged links to extremism, which Matar stated is concerning for both the UAE delegation and the international community.
