UAE Team Emirates-XRG Riders Shine in Italy and Beyond: Almeida and Ayuso Impress at Vuelta a Espa±a, Wellens Concludes Renewi Tour on Podium

Milan: On the first summit finish of this year's Vuelta a Espa±a, UAE Team Emirates-XRG showcased strong performances as Joo Almeida and Juan Ayuso secured fifth and eighth places respectively.

According to Emirates News Agency, this challenging stage in Italy tested the riders, with Almeida and Ayuso maintaining a competitive presence despite the course not being ideally suited to their strengths. The result saw Ayuso don the white jersey as the best young rider, with a promising ninth place overall, a mere 12 seconds behind the stage winner and new race leader, Jonas Vingegaard of Visma-Lease a Bike.

The Vuelta's final Italian stage brings Ayuso into a strategic position, setting the stage for the longer climbs that lie ahead. Meanwhile, the conclusion of the Renewi Tour saw Tim Wellens of UAE Team Emirates-XRG finish third overall. The Belgian national champion demonstrated determination throughout the tour, especially on the final stage, although he was unable to secure a victory.

Additionally, UAE Team Emirates-XRG had a busy Sunday with three simultaneous races. In Germany, Jhonatan Narv¡ez wrapped up a successful Lidl Deutschland Tour, clinching a stage victory and second place overall. The Ecuadorian national champion maintained his podium position by finishing safely in the bunch sprint on stage 4, marking his second general classification podium of the season and highlighting his readiness for upcoming challenges.
