Mallorca: Jan Christen took the fourth win of the season for the UAE Team Emirates-XRG with a solo victory at the Trofeo Calvia on day one of the Challenge Mallorca.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Swiss talent played a tactical game, taking advantage of a lull in the group to bridge across solo to the two leaders, Frederick Wandahl of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe and Christian Scaroni of XDS Astana, with 10 kilometers remaining. With no immediate response from the reduced peloton, the trio collaborated to maintain their lead.
In the final stretch, Christen launched a solo attack at the 1-kilometer mark, securing his victory with a triumphant finish. Reflecting on his performance, Christen expressed his satisfaction, stating, "I'm super happy. I have really good condition, and the first two races were already good with Morgado taking a win and now me as well."
The results for the Trofeo Calvia were as follows: Jan Christen of UAE Team Emirates-XRG finished with a time of 3:34:45, followed by Christian Scaroni of XDS Astana at six seconds behind, and Antonio Morgado of UAE Team Emirates-XRG finishing with the same time as Scaroni.
