UAE Unveils New Government Framework for Agentic AI Deployment Across 50% of Sectors

Abu dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has revealed a groundbreaking initiative under the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UAE government plans to implement a new framework to deploy Agentic AI across 50% of government sectors and operations within two years, marking a world-first in government AI adoption.

According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement was made during a UAE Cabinet meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. The initiative aims to transform government sectors and services through the integration of autonomous AI models capable of executing decisions and managing operations without human intervention. This shift is expected to enhance service delivery, improve operational efficiency, and reduce costs.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid emphasized the importance of adapting to technological advancements, stating that ministers and government officials will be evaluated based on their ability to adopt and implement AI technologies. A dedicated taskforce, led by Mohammad Al Gergawi, has been established to oversee the execution of this project, with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed overseeing the implementation of the President's vision.

The initiative builds on two decades of digital transformation efforts in the UAE, including the appointment of a Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence in 2017 and the launch of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031. The UAE government is committed to further developing national capabilities by training government employees in AI tools and applications.

The Cabinet also approved various resolutions to enhance the government services ecosystem, including the adoption of the UAE Code for Government Services and Zero Bureaucracy, a government services digital records policy, and a data sharing policy. These measures aim to improve service quality, data management, and integration across federal and local entities.

In addition, the UAE Cabinet approved strategic initiatives to boost competitiveness, sustainability, and international cooperation, including the Geographical Indication framework and a Digital Postal Addressing System. The Cabinet also discussed progress on sustainability projects under the National Biofuel Policy 2025 and reviewed reports from federal entities on national strategies and legislative updates.

The UAE continues to strengthen its global presence, with plans to host major international events and conferences, reinforcing its role as a platform for dialogue and innovation. The Cabinet's approval of international agreements and initiatives further supports the UAE's commitment to global standards and sustainable development goals.
