Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, UDST held a graduation ceremony for 781 students.
The ceremony was attended by HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, HE Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, as a guest speaker; and HE UDST Board of Trustees’ Chairman Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada; and with the attendance of Their Excellencies Sheikhs and Ministers and the board members; and the Universitys staff and faculty, and graduates families.
UDSTs second graduation ceremony witnessed a 68% increase in the graduates number compared to last year. The number of graduates in each discipline is: 222 from Business Management, 78 from Computing and Information Technology, 267 from Engineering Technology and 214 from Health Sciences. UDST offers 64 programs to its students, each tailored to the needs of Qatars economy.
In her speech to the graduates, HE Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani expressed her pride as she addressed the graduates of Doha University of Science and Technology, “in a distinguished year that marks the passage of a decade of great achievements under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.” Her Excellency told the graduates that time has come for the knowledge they acquired to contribute to the realization of Qatar National Vision 2030, expressing her confidence that they will provide Qatar as much as they can in a collective spirit, in compliance with the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani when he stressed in his last speech before the Shura Council on the collective action of state institutions by saying: ‘It must be clear that the state institutions should team up as one group for getting the job done.’ She added: “As graduates of the University of Doha for Science and Technology, you are qualified for innovation and creativity. As you are aware the development of the technology sector is accelerating rapidly, and it requires continuous research and innovation, to transform Qatar’s efforts from a technology-consuming to a producing and exporting country.”
