Ukrainian President Zelensky Open to Ceasefire Negotiations Amid Oslo Talks

Oslo:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed Ukraine's readiness to engage in negotiations concerning various ceasefire proposals. This announcement came during discussions in Oslo on Tuesday, where a range of issues, including security guarantees and post-war reconstruction, were on the agenda.

According to Wam, the head of state made these remarks at a press conference in Oslo following talks with U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere and Finnish President Alexander Stubb were also in attendance.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of demonstrating de-escalation through negotiations and noted that discussions covered sensitive topics such as security guarantees for Ukraine. He reiterated the necessity for Ukraine's involvement in any discussions regarding its future, particularly in light of a potential trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Furthermore, Zelensky confirmed Ukraine's willingness to agree to a ceasefire, conditional on Russia ceasing its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. This follows Trump's statement on October 11 about an energy ceasefire supposedly taking effect, urging both parties not to violate it.
