Umm al qaiwain: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, has enacted Law No. (1) of 2026, mandating the renaming of the Smart Government Department in Umm Al Qaiwain.
According to Emirates News Agency, the new legislation aims to update the designation of the department, reflecting ongoing developments and initiatives in the region. The enactment of this law signifies a shift in the administrative approach and structure within the government framework of Umm Al Qaiwain.
The renaming initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance the operational efficiency and technological capabilities of government services. The law reflects the commitment of the Umm Al Qaiwain leadership towards modernization and improvement of public sector operations, aligning with contemporary governance standards.
The law stipulates that the name Smart Government Department shall be replaced with Digital Government Department, to be referred to as Digital Umm Al Qaiwain.
