Abu dhabi: The United States announced on Tuesday, July 21, that it is dispatching the initial segment of a $100 million aid package to Cuba, a nation currently grappling with a severe economic crisis exacerbated by pressures from Washington.
According to Emirates News Agency, a plane loaded with "pre-packaged food and hygiene kits for up to 700 Cuban families" is scheduled to depart from Miami. The State Department outlined in a statement that the aid will be directly distributed by the Catholic Church.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio initially proposed the $100 million aid package in May, aiming to alleviate the hardships faced by Cuban citizens amid the ongoing economic struggle.
