US authorities have issued mandatory evacuation orders for more than 5,000 people in California due to severe wildfires that have spread across an estimated 17,000 acres and have spiraled out of control in the southern part of the state. The local fire service reported that its teams were unable to control the fire, which is threatening more than 8,000 buildings as of yesterday morning. Ongoing heat is also increasing the risk of new fires. California has been experiencing increasingly larger wildfires in recent years, as climate change has made the region warmer and drier over the past three decades. Source: Qatar News Agency
