Abu dhabi: Wall Street's main stock indices closed sharply higher on Thursday, buoyed by broad-based gains in technology shares. The rally was driven by investor optimism in the tech sector, which saw significant boosts across major indices.
According to Emirates News Agency, the S and P 500 rose 124.60 points, or 1.70%, to close at 7,440.75. This marked a strong performance for the index, reflecting growing confidence in the market's ability to rebound and sustain upward momentum.
The Nasdaq Composite advanced 679.24 points, or 2.76%, to finish at 25,118.17. The impressive gain was largely attributed to the robust performance of major tech companies, which have been at the forefront of recent market rallies.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 607.28 points, or 1.18%, to close at 52,201.42. The increase in the Dow highlighted a positive trend across various sectors, though technology shares were the primary drivers of the day's gains.
