WHO Reports 906 Suspected Ebola Cases, 223 Deaths in Congo

Kinshasa: The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recorded 906 suspected cases of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including 223 suspected deaths currently under investigation. The outbreak, involving the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, remains ongoing, with cases also reported in Uganda.

According to Emirates News Agency, the WHO emphasized that there are currently no approved vaccines or treatments specifically for the Bundibugyo strain. The outbreak of this rare strain was declared a public health emergency of international concern by the WHO.

The situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and neighboring Uganda continues to be monitored closely as health officials work to contain the spread of the virus. The WHO has been coordinating with local and international health agencies to address the outbreak and provide necessary support to the affected regions.
