Reno: Firefighters battling a fast-moving wildfire in the US state of Nevada made progress on Monday, with the blaze now 27 percent contained, authorities said.
According to Emirates News Agency, the so-called Hawk Fire in hilly terrain on the outskirts of Reno has destroyed 32 homes and damaged another six, based on preliminary assessments. Fire chief Richard Edwards cautioned that these figures were likely to increase as further evaluations are conducted.
The fire has spread rapidly since it ignited on Saturday, with recent reports indicating that it has burned through more than 6,000 hectares. Authorities have confirmed that seven individuals, including three firefighters, have sustained injuries as efforts continue to control the blaze.
