Abu Dhabi:The Youth Council of Zayed Authority for People of Determination, alongside Aldar Youth Council, conducted the 'More Than Just a Pink Ribbon' event, featuring a 5-kilometre walk and run at The Galleria, Al Maryah Island. The event attracted around 500 participants, including People of Determination, their families, and community members. Notable attendees included Abdulla Al Humaidan, Acting Director-General of the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, and Sultan Al Khouri, Associate Director of Retail at Aldar Properties.
According to Wam, the event coincided with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and aimed to promote healthy lifestyles, underscore the importance of prevention and early detection, and express solidarity with those affected by breast cancer and their families. This initiative is part of the community activities that the Youth Council of Zayed Authority for People of Determination is committed to organizing and participating in, emphasizing the Council's role in enhancing the engagement of People of Determination in community initiatives and expanding participation in sports and health-related activities.
Additionally, the event featured an interactive movement activity called POD Dance for young People of Determination, which took place from 900 to 1000 am on the South Link Bridge at The Galleria. This activity encouraged physical movement, social interaction, and community participation.
Meera Al Shamsi, Chairperson of the Youth Council of Zayed Authority for People of Determination, stated that the event symbolizes their belief in the role of young people in creating a positive and sustainable impact on society, as well as their ability to transform initiatives into meaningful activities that merge social responsibility, health awareness, and human solidarity. She highlighted that the collaboration with Aldar Youth Council underscores the significance of joint youth efforts in organizing initiatives beneficial to all societal segments.
