Abu dhabi: Eleven people were killed today when a skydiving aircraft crashed in north-eastern France. Yves S©guy, Prefect of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, reported that the aircraft crashed near the city of Nancy. The Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
According to Emirates News Agency, Herv© F©ron, Mayor of Tomblaine, where the crash occurred, stated that the aircraft came down near a residential area, only a few dozen metres from the airport runway. The crash site's proximity to the residential area raised immediate concerns about potential casualties on the ground, but no such incidents were reported.
Local authorities in Tomblaine confirmed that the aircraft belonged to a skydiving school. The victims included the pilot and ten passengers, consisting of five students and five instructors. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, as friends and families of the victims mourn their loss while awaiting answers from the ongoing investigation.
