2nd Hili Forum 2025 Opens in Abu Dhabi to Discuss Global Strategic Transformations

Abu dhabi: The second edition of the Hili Forum commenced today in Abu Dhabi under the theme 'Global Reset: Trade, Tech, and Governance.' Organised by the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) in collaboration with the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA), the two-day Forum underscores the UAE's role as a pivotal hub for dialogue on pressing global challenges.

According to Emirates News Agency, this year's forum brings together over 1,000 participants and 70 speakers from more than 30 countries to explore key transformations reshaping the international order in politics, economics, and technology. Day One discussions focused on the core areas of geopolitics and geoeconomics, examining the intensifying competition among major powers and the impact of economic fragmentation on the global economy.

In his keynote address, Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, emphasized the UAE's significant legacy in economy and commerce, noting the nation's position as a dynamic and influential global economic player. Similarly, Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the forum's role in enhancing the UAE's soft power and influence.

Dr. Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director-General of ECSSR, underscored the forum's value in transforming global disruptions into opportunities for cooperation and growth. Nickolay Mladenov, Director-General of AGDA, reflected on the UAE's approach to diplomacy, emphasizing strategic partnerships that address global uncertainties.

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director-General of AGDA, moderated a session on 'The Global Gulf: Middle Powers and Mediation Diplomacy,' emphasizing the unique role of middle powers in conflict resolution. The forum featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Dr. Bisher Al Khasawneh, Nasser Judeh, and Ambassador Douglas Silliman among others.

The Hili Forum 2025 will continue tomorrow at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi, expanding discussions to geotech, alongside geopolitics and geoeconomics, to form a comprehensive dialogue on the future of the international order.
