A 5.4magnitude earthquake jolted Sunday the Tonga Islands in the South Pacific Ocean The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the quake occurred 290 km southwest of the Ohonua, at a depth of 20.7 km.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake. No tsunami warning has been issued.
Tonga is an archipelago of 176 scattered islands in the South Pacific Ocean, of which only 52 are inhabited, located in northwest New Zealand and Australia.
