Abu Dhabi: The UAE has reinforced its status as a prime destination and hub for multinational global technology partnerships, serving as an investment and trade platform that supports growth and innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors, which are reshaping the global economic landscape.
According to Emirates News Agency, since its launch in July 2022, the Ministry of Economy's "NextGen FDI" initiative has attracted over 90 leading global companies, particularly those specializing in advanced technology and vital sectors. Among these are high-market-value companies like Coinbase, Qualcomm, Ripple, and XPENG. These companies are involved in sectors expected to define the future economy, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, the Internet of Things, biotechnology, renewable energy, smart mobility, fintech, semiconductors, wireless communications, sustainability, and climate technology.
Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, highlighted that the initiative continues to attract global companies in strategic sectors, working in collaboration with relevant partners and entities within the UAE. He mentioned that this cooperation will enhance competitiveness, achieve developmental goals, and help attract 300 global tech companies, injecting nearly $500 million into the national economy.
The initiative is focused on establishing an advanced investment environment that encourages foreign direct investment and expands cooperation with global companies. Dr Al Zeyoudi emphasized the importance of providing incentives to facilitate the entry of foreign companies into the local market, thereby enhancing opportunities for growth and development. He expressed a strong desire for further cooperation with companies whose objectives align with the initiative's goals to achieve growth and foster innovation.
The Ministry of Economy also announced a strategic partnership with Schneider Electric in the NextGen FDI initiative. This partnership aims to attract, mentor, and scale high-potential startups in the sustainability and climate-tech sectors. Schneider Electric will bring its portfolio companies to the UAE for networking and expansion opportunities, supporting the NextGen FDI mission by offering go-to-market strategies and incubation for the programme's onboarded companies.
Launched in 2022, the NextGen FDI initiative is a pivotal component of the UAE's strategy to diversify its economy and establish itself as a global hub for innovation.
