Washington: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington to discuss the strategic relations between the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting was part of Sheikh Abdullah's working visit to the US capital. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties to support mutual interests and reviewed prospects for expanding cooperation across sectors such as the economy, trade, artificial intelligence, and advanced technology. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the deep and varied strategic partnership between the two nations, while also addressing regional developments, particularly in the Middle East.
The dialogue also included enhancing joint cooperation within the framework of the Board of Peace to support international efforts for regional security and stability. Both parties highlighted the Board of Peace as an effective platform for multilateral coordination and advancing peaceful solutions in line with regional aspirations for stability, development, and prosperity.
The diplomats addressed mutual concerns, with particular attention to the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. They highlighted the necessity of international efforts to resolve the crisis and ensure humanitarian aid delivery to civilians. Additionally, Sheikh Abdullah and Secretary Rubio discussed Sudan's civil war, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire and support for humanitarian relief.
Sheikh Abdullah noted that the UAE's participation in the Board of Peace demonstrates its commitment to international peace initiatives and regional stability. He stressed the importance of implementing the peace plan for the Gaza Strip, as proposed by US President Donald Trump, to achieve a sustainable settlement.
Sheikh Abdullah also reiterated the UAE's readiness to support the Board of Peace's objectives and collaborate with international partners to enhance security and stability. The meeting was attended by Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States.
