Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub (ADCSH) with the support of Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), has confirmed a five-year destination support agreement with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). The agreement, which spans from 2025 to 2029, designates Abu Dhabi as the exclusive UAE host for ACB training camps and all 'A' International and junior-level matches and tournaments, establishing ADCSH as a central national hub for sporting excellence.
According to Emirates News Agency, ACB will continue collaborating with the Emirates Cricket Board to use multiple venues across the United Arab Emirates for hosting senior men's bilateral matches. This collaboration not only provides a platform for Afghanistan's emerging cricket talents but also plays a crucial role in expanding and fortifying the national game. The agreement also includes support for ACB to facilitate its global operations and enhance pathways for player development.
The formal signing of the agreement took place today, involving Matt Boucher, CEO of ADSCH, and Naseeb Khan, CEO of ACB, with Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of ADSC, present to support the partnership. This development comes after high-level discussions among ACB, ADSC, and ADCSH, where the parties reiterated their dedication to increasing cricket opportunities for Afghanistan's players on the international scene.
Aref Al Awani expressed pride in the agreement, highlighting its pioneering role in supporting Afghanistan's cricket ecosystem. He also emphasized Abu Dhabi's capacity for hosting global tournaments, programs, and training camps, owing to its extensive infrastructure, ensuring the success of these events.
