Abu dhabi: Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA), a prominent academic institution for mariners and part of AD Ports Group, will host the Quantum Maritime Conference 2025 at the Academy's campus in Mussafah - Abu Dhabi on 8-9 October 2025. Organised in collaboration with Vernewell Group, this event will explore the potential of quantum technologies in the maritime sector.
According to Emirates News Agency, the conference will gather leaders from the UAE, international scientists, and industry executives to examine how quantum innovations will impact the maritime sector. Attendees will discuss applications like quantum optimisation for ports, which can reduce vessel turnaround times and improve fuel efficiency, and quantum sensing technologies that enhance navigation and environmental monitoring.
Dr. Yasser Al Wahedi, President of Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy, remarked that the conference represents a pivotal moment for the industry as it adopts quantum technologies to influence global shipping and port operations. He emphasized the academy's commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration, aligning with its mission to position Abu Dhabi as a hub for maritime education and advanced solutions.
Malak Trabelsi Loeb, CEO of Vernewell Group, highlighted the conference's role in uniting stakeholders to explore quantum technology as a tool for maritime stability and performance. The goal is to translate deep tech into practical maritime capabilities and build a network of decision-makers supporting this vision.
The conference will address critical areas such as quantum computing for optimisation, quantum sensing for detection, post-quantum cryptography for secure data exchange, and quantum communication for reliable networks. These technologies are set to transform maritime operations by enabling optimised processes, enhanced predictive capabilities, and improved resilience.
The integration of quantum computing is expected to reshape global shipping, naval operations, offshore energy, and port logistics. The maritime industry, valued at US$137.47 billion in 2024, is projected to reach nearly US$243.35 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate of 7.4 percent.
