Abu dhabi: In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) and Abu Dhabi Nature Academy have signed a cooperation agreement to launch the Poultry Farm Biosecurity Programme. This initiative aims to enhance biosecurity measures at poultry farms across the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was signed by Dr Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Acting Director-General of ADAFSA, and Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Abu Dhabi Nature Academy. The signing took place during the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2026.
The agreement outlines a framework for collaboration in developing specialized training programmes tailored to the needs of relevant sectors. The goal is to build national capabilities in agriculture and food safety while enhancing the skills of personnel working at poultry facilities. This effort is expected to improve practices related to biosecurity risk prevention and disease surveillance.
Dr Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri emphasized the importance of integrating institutional efforts to develop national talent capable of safeguarding the livestock and food production ecosystem. He noted that the Poultry Farm Biosecurity Programme is a crucial step in embedding preventive practices and enhancing the readiness of facilities to manage biosecurity risks.
Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi highlighted the academy's commitment to creating a specialized system for building national capabilities in nature, wildlife, and biosecurity. The collaboration with ADAFSA will leverage technical expertise to prepare qualified professionals and strengthen preventive practices at poultry farms.
The programme aims to equip participants with the skills needed to identify biosecurity risks, implement prevention and control measures, and manage hygiene protocols at poultry farms. It will benefit a wide range of personnel, including agricultural and livestock inspection officers, animal health professionals, and employees at poultry breeding centers.
Running for two years, the programme will also include mechanisms to measure the quality of training and assess outcomes, ensuring that the objectives are met and the programme's impact is sustained.
