Noura Al Kaabi Participates in Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting

Abu dhabi: On behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Noura bint Mohamed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, participated in the 55th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders' Meeting, held from 30th August to 4th September 2026, in Koror, Palau. Al Kaabi conveyed the greetings of UAE leaders to Surangel Whipps Jr., President of Palau and Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum, and extended best wishes for the progress and prosperity of the Pacific states.

According to Emirates News Agency, President Whipps Jr. reciprocated by sending his greetings to UAE leaders and expressed his wishes for progress and development for the UAE. Al Kaabi addressed leaders and representatives of the Forum's 18 member countries, emphasizing the UAE's commitment to enhancing UAE-Pacific relations, particularly in climate resilience, energy transition, and marine conservation.

Al Kaabi took part in the Leaders' Ascent Dialogue on Climate-Smart Investment on 1st September 2026. The Dialogue, chaired by President Whipps Jr., was part of regional preparations for Pre-COP31 in Fiji and Tuvalu and COP31 in Antalya, Trkiye, aiming to advance climate-smart investment in renewable energy and climate resilience.

PIF leaders acknowledged the UAE's partnership and contributions to renewable energy, digitisation, and climate resilience capacity-building. They also highlighted the legacy of COP28 and the UAE's ongoing efforts in climate action.

Al Kaabi held bilateral meetings with various Pacific leaders, including the Presidents of the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Prime Minister of Tonga, among others. She also engaged in discussions with foreign ministers from across the region to explore cooperation opportunities.

On the Forum's sidelines, the UAE hosted a dinner for Pacific Islands Forum delegates. President Whipps Jr. expressed gratitude for the UAE's long-standing support for the Pacific region.

In addition to participating in the meeting, Al Kaabi engaged with Pacific leaders, business delegations, and UAE companies to explore opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as energy, technology, and logistics. She was accompanied by UAE Ambassador Mohamed Obaid Salem Al Qattam Alzaabi and Omar Shehadeh, Envoy to the Caribbean and Pacific States.
