Ahmed Bin Saeed Inaugurates 27th Edition of WETEX

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, highlighted Dubai's leadership in the global transition towards a green economy during the inauguration of the 27th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX). The event was organised by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Ahmed attributed this leadership to the vision and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He noted that WETEX has become a significant event that showcases innovative solutions in energy, water, environment, and technology, supporting the UAE's strategic initiative to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. This aligns with both the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

Sheikh Ahmed further emphasized Dubai's role as a strategic hub for international events and exhibitions, especially in sustainability and innovation. He stated that the exhibition, which commenced 27 years ago, confirms Dubai's status as a major partner in addressing global climate challenges and developing innovative business models that harmonize sustainable economic growth with natural resource conservation.

The exhibition, held from 30 September to 2 October 2025, features participation from over 3,100 companies across 65 countries, reinforcing Dubai's influence as a global hub for sustainability and innovation. Sheikh Ahmed was welcomed by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, along with Majid Hamad Al Shamsi, Chairman of DEWA, and other senior officials.

Al Tayer remarked that WETEX serves as a leading platform for innovation, cooperation, and investment. It allows local and international companies to exhibit the latest technologies in renewable energy, water, environment, and sustainability, and facilitates the establishment of strategic partnerships and investment opportunities. The exhibition also includes seminars and panel discussions with experts and officials from major companies worldwide.

During a tour of WETEX, Sheikh Ahmed was briefed on new solutions in clean energy, water, and sustainability, along with technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital transformation tools. He visited international pavilions and viewed innovations from companies including Masdar, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Siemens, among others.

At DEWA's stand, Sheikh Ahmed received insights from Saeed Al Tayer on DEWA's key projects, such as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and the Hatta Pumped-Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant.
