Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Ataf held a phone call with Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and head of UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Abdullah Batili, during which they discussed developments in the political and security situation in Libya.
In a statement issued by Algerian Foreign Ministry, Ataf renewed his country's support for UN's efforts to hold the presidential and legislative elections in Libya as soon as possible.
Libya was scheduled to witness presidential and legislative elections in December 2021, but they were postponed indefinitely due to differences between the political parties.
