Ajman: H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, conducted an inspection of the Manama Museum development project to assess its progress as part of his ongoing commitment to tourism, cultural, and heritage initiatives within the emirate.
According to Emirates News Agency, during his visit, Sheikh Ammar surveyed the restoration and preparation stages currently underway at the historic fort, originally constructed in the twentieth century under the reign of Sheikh Humaid bin Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi between 1910 and 1928. He instructed the project team to adhere to the required quality standards to ensure the project's successful completion. This initiative reflects Ajman's dedication to preserving its heritage and documenting the legacy of its founding figures, thereby enhancing the emirate's cultural and civilizational stature.
His Highness was informed about the project's overall vision, which aims to preserve the fort's original features. These include the watchtower and ancient well, surrounded by date palms historically irrigated through the traditional falaj system, an ancient method of channeling groundwater from the mountains to sustain adjacent agricultural lands.
Sheikh Ammar also examined the museum's experiential layout, which spans 13 rooms and a central courtyard known as Al Liwan. The museum offers a chronological journey starting from the 'Story of Manama' room and continues through various themed rooms, including 'People of Manama,' 'Manama Crops,' 'Agriculture,' and others dedicated to notable figures such as Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman. The exploration concludes at the central courtyard, which features the ancient well.
Accompanying Sheikh Ammar on this inspection tour were Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department of Tourism, Culture, and Media, and Mahmoud Khalil Al Hashimi, Director-General of the Department.
